Why Working on Avicii's New Album Was Doubly Meaningful for Aloe Blacc

Avicii may be gone, but his swan song album Tim, named after his real name Tim Bergling, arrived yesterday.

The collection of songs was finished by several of his closest collaborators including Aloe Blacc, who sang on his 2013 global hit "Wake Me Up" and returns to contribute vocals to its lead single "SOS."

Working on the track was all the more meaningful for Aloe, because Avicii had actually asked him to do the track before he passed and the song’s heavy lyrics are partially a cry for help from somebody struggling who’s caught in a dark place .Aloe tells Billboard:

“After knowing what he’d been through, and really feeling extremely confident that he’d made it through the worst of his experiences in the music business, and everything was on the up and up, then getting the news that he’d passed, this song really felt like it was an important message to deliver to honor his legacy. And also to really create the language for people who are in distress situations, anxiety, mental health issues — words to say, ‘I need help.’”
