Not many people know that Lizzo’s breakout album Cuz I Love You featured a healthy contribution by alt rock trio X Ambassadors' lead singer Sam Harris, who co-authored three songs with her including the title track itself.
Sam says even though she was a relative unknown at the time collaborating with her was a dream and ridiculously productive.
"She’s the greatest," he tells Billboard. "It was so easy. I think we wrote maybe three other songs than the ones that we did...I think in one day, we wrote 'Heaven Help Me,' 'Cuz I Love You,' and like three other ones that we never ended up finishing."
"It’s nice to work with other artists because not only are you getting out of your comfort zone, but you get to just go with what their vision is," he adds. "It takes the ego out of it a little bit."
