Jason Derulo, Michael Bublé Share LOL Story Behind Collab 'Spicy Margarita'

New music alert! Jason Derulo has tapped Michael Bublé for the first single off his upcoming album Nu King. The iconic duo premiered track "Spicy Margarita" on-air with Ryan Seacrest on Thursday, January 25.

The song, which samples Dean Martin and Bublé's "Sway," came out of a rejected Christmas collaboration. Bublé shared with Seacrest Jason originally called him to collaborate on a holiday track and Michael respectfully declined the idea because he knew they were destined for more.

"In seconds I was like 'No' and then I said to him ... 'You know, Jason, I know how smart you are. ... How is it that you can't see how much potential we have taking this old school thing I do ... and continuing the legacy of my heroes?'"

"I think the average person would have been like, 'Oh, I don't mess with that guy anymore,'" Derulo added. "... But for me I saw the truth and I saw the vision that he had in mind and it was the clash of worlds and I thought it was brilliant. ... How come there's never been a Michael Bublé song like this that clashes those two worlds?"

Derulo revealed after writing the track he slept on it for a night and then presented it to Bublé who was blown away, telling Seacrest he hasn't been this excited about a song since 2009's "Haven't Met You Yet."

"I'll never forget it," Bublé shared. "I got emotional because I knew [it's a hit]."
